Travelling across the world taking photographs. Who wouldn’t have a dream like this?

Well not only is the idea awesome, but I’ve found some photographers that have produced some very inspiring work while travelling with their cameras. With a background in both travel photography and computer graphic design, I understand and can appreciate how time-consuming time-lapse photography is. However, if you can persist and have an excellent vision you can produce some amazing work.

Below are two time-lapse pieces that I have watched over and over because of how beautiful and inspiring I think the photography is. Combined with music, these pieces really know how to set the mood and tell an excellent narrative. If anyone enjoys landscape and travel photography then these are a must to watch. Not only do they flow well between beautiful images, but the composing, depth of field and motion within the photographs themselves has also been done really well.

First is Kien Lam’s piece entitled ‘Time is Nothing, A Journey Around the World’, with music ‘Places and Faces’ by William Lam. Kien travelled through 17 countries over 343 says, taking 6237 photographs. This combination of beautiful images and music link incredibly well.

Kien used a small travel photography kit, which is understandable given that he was one person travelling across the world. Kien produced amazing results, showing that sometimes all it takes is guts, a great idea and plenty of photographic knowledge. If you want to find about Kien’s work and his adventure check out http://kienlam.net/around-the-world.

My next piece of travel time-lapse inspiration is a pair that had an incredible photography kit and travelled throughout Yosemite National Park in the USA.

Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty didn’t know each other before this project, but together they captured amazing scenes throughout night and day to show how amazing the Yosemite landscape really is. This was created completely differently to Kien’s. Sheldon and Colin gathered quite a lot of equipment in sometimes challenging weather conditions over about 19 days to shoot this piece. This seems a well planned time-lapse, but still doesn’t fail to amaze. I hope you enjoy their work as much as I do.

I recommend checking out the making of Project Yosemite on their website http://www.projectyose.com/.

Finally I’d like to thank Kien Lam, Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty for letting me include their projects in my blog post. This is my first of several up coming blog posts about inspiration. Keep up the great work guys; I’m looking forward to seeing your next projects!
