Preparing for the London 2012 Olympics

As I’m sure most people are aware, London will be hosting the 2012 Olympic Games this July-August. In preparation for the games London has been hosting the ‘Prepares Series’ for athletes to qualify for the Olympics. Over the last few weeks I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on some tickets (it is much easier to get tickets to London Prepares, than it is for the actual Olympic Games).
So far I have had the pleasure of seeing both the Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Finals in London. All the athletes I saw were so talented that I couldn’t help but snap away some photographs and videos on my cameras.
I’m relatively new to sports photography and since gymnastics is an indoor sport, this really tested my photographic skills. I had to use a combination of fast shutter speeds, high ISO ratings and careful white balance. As a spectator I unfortunately did not have space for a tripod, which added to the challenge. However, I managed to get some action shots that I thought I would share so everyone has the chance to have a sneak-peek at what is to come in a few months when the 2012 Olympic Games begin.
